France

But of course…

Vive La France! By a considerable margin the most visited country in the world, France has huge diversity of landscape and an accordingly varied climate. It can be just as wet and rainy as Scotland, especially in the north, but in general has more agreeable weather than its northern Britannic neighbours. It is a world leader in art and cuisine (both high drivers for my visits), and is easily accessed from much of the world, in particular Britain. Those who live in the south of England often hop over on the ferry or the Channel Tunnel just for a day trip.

I have visited France at least eight times, but much of that was during the pre-digital (and pre-camera ownership) dark ages of the 1990s, hence not having nearly as much photographic evidence as you might expect. My first trip was to Paris in 1993, followed by several family holidays, school trips and other travel to the Alps, Normandy, Brittany, Occitania, Massif Central and the French Riviera. My ambition now is to see more of France, being as relatively close as it is to my home in Aberdeen, and get some more comprehensive photos online for your viewing pleasure!
