Subcontinental sojourns

Refreshed pages are now up covering my travels across the Indian subcontinent, including Nepal, Sri Lanka and of course India itself. These trips all took place across a four-year period, not by any design, but living in Dubai made the area much more readily accessible, and I was happy to take advantage. I’ve not been to the area since, but am keen to see more of South India in particular, plus potentially Bhutan.

I visited India in late 2007, trekking round the classic Golden Triangle route from Delhi through Agra and Jaipur, then jumping down for bonus visits to Mumbai and Goa. In 2011 I visited Nepal and Sri Lanka, on trips around six months apart. My Nepalese adventure took me to Kathmandu, Lukla and Sagarmatha National Park on the trek halfway to Everest Base Camp, and in Sri Lanka I managed to squeeze in the mountain retreat of Kandy, beachside resorts of Hikkaduwa and Unawatuna, the historic fort town of Galle, and finally the capital Colombo.
